In Indonesia, the Jakarta Post reports that the government is pushing its plan to roll out B30 to 2019 rather than wait until 2020 as originally planned. Tests operating vehicles using the higher blends have so far proven successful and a road test set for August is set to pave the way for early implementation of the B30 mandate. The government says that blends all the way up to 100% are viable in vehicle engines but it is concerns from manufacturers that are the greatest concern.

In Malaysia, Bloomberg reports that surplus palm oil supplies have seen the gap between biodiesel and fossil fuel prices reach the largest gap seen since 2014 with palm oil-based biodiesel reaching a discount of $124 per metric ton last Friday. The gap has since narrowed to $107 on Monday. With prices so low, exports could go as high as 380,000 tons this year. Export demand is typically triggered for discretional blending when the discount is above $100.

In Brazil, the Ministry of Mines and Energy published a new ordinance that increases the voluntary mixture of percentages of biodiesel mixture in regular diesel. The measure aims to expand biodiesel consumption in the country.

In Argentina, Reuters reports that if the European Union slams Argentine biodiesel exports with fresh anti-dumping tariffs in the next two to three months, that production could come to a screeching halt as 85% of exports would be cut off without an alternative market to flow into. Just the threat of potential new tariffs could see exports to Europe fall to as low as 700,000 metric tons this year compared to 1.65 million tons last year.

Given the changes in the market, ENMORE China will hold Global Biodiesel Focus 2018 to meet you for an open exchange of ideas, to take a glance at the progress made from policy into reality, and to the set our priorities to move forward.

We are keen to see you in Indonesia
