China tyre industry was beset with troubles at home and abroad in 2015. For Chinese tyre makers, the past year was eventful: we’ve seen trade barriers like antidumping and countervailing duties from the US and antidumping duties from the Eurasian Economic Commission as well as major changes in production like the bankruptcy of Deruibo Tyre and Capital Tyre and the shutdown of Giti Chongqing factory. China’s national specification for compounded rubber took effect on July 1st, 2015. The new criterion and changes in natural rubber tariffs placed the industry under cost pressure.
On May 28th, the first TBR tyre in LLIT was off the assembly line successfully. LLIT is the first overseas manufacturing base of Linglong Tyre. In November, Doublestar’s plan to set up a new tyre plant in Kazakhstan has obtained local government’s approval. The joint venture plant will also be the first overseas manufacturing base of Doublestar. So far, there have been 6 domestic tyre manufacturers who have overseas factories: Sailun Jinyu, Linglong, Zhongce, Sentury, O’Green and Doublestar. This marks an important step of Chinese tyre industry toward going global.
REACH Amendment (EU) No 1272/2013 which shall apply from December 2015 extends the PAHs limit from extender oils to rubber and plastic parts of a wide range of consumer articles, which indicates the trend of TDAE will continue in the future.
Apart from tyres, other rubber downstream sectors like shoe material, modified bitumen, TPE/TPR, vaseline, hot melt adhesive and lubricant blendstock are also making their appeal to investors. Among them, which sector will have the biggest potential of growth?

China is a major producer and consumer of paraffin. Its paraffin output has been
maintained at 1.2 million tons to 1.6 million tons in recent years. As car ownership
in China has enjoyed fast growth, the consumption of auto protective wax increase
rapidly, especially in north China, east China and south China where car ownership
is higher. Paraffin consumption in cosmetics and personal care products is also
increasing.
Chinese paraffin is exported to more than 100 nations and regions, accounting for at
least 60% of the international paraffin trade volume. Products are exported in two major
