Year 2014 was tough for China’s chemical industry. Amid the economic restructuring and reform, China’s GDP growth continued to slow down from the 7.7% level in the previous year. The futures prices of major chemical commodities like PP, PE, PTA, rubber and methanol in China followed the downtrend of the international oil market. What about the outlook for the Chinese chemicals market in 2015?
Over the past year, China’s logistics industry has seen fast growth. The infrastructure network has improved and the total railway mileage has expanded to 103,000 km including 11,000 km high-speed rails. The total mileage of highways nationwide has reached 4,356,000 km. There are 2,001 deepwater berths of over 10,000 DWT, 1.3 billion square meters of warehousing facilities in service and 754 logistics parks all over the country. With advancements in various means of transportation including highway, railway, shipping, warehousing and multimodal transport, the third-party logistics operators are upgrading their services and the fourth-party logistics services are attracting more market attentions. In the information age, e-commerce platforms are reshaping the landscape of the industry. How will this affect the logistics and warehousing sector?
