4th Lithium Battery Separator & other Material Technology Strategy Summit 2014
Time:2014-11-19 -11-20location:guangdong shenzhenshi
Li-ion batteries have emerged as the leading battery technology for a wide variety of applications, including mobile devices, grid-scale energy storage, and electric vehicles (EVs). The market for Li-ion batteries for automobiles is expected to expand rapidly over the next 10 years, with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for consumers drawing the largest share. According to a recent report from Navigant Research, worldwide revenue from Li-ion batteries for all consumer EVs will grow from US$5.7 billion (or about CNY35.07 billion) in 2014 to $24.1 billion (or about CNY148.28 billion) in 2023, with BEVs accounting for $15.1 billion (or about CNY92.91 billion) of that total.
“The capabilities of Li-ion batteries have overtaken other technologies in most electrified light duty transportation applications. They are up to 95 percent efficient, they have a potential lifespan of 20 years, and costs could be reduced significantly in high-volume production in the coming years,” the report says.
China has been the world’s largest manufacturing base of Li-ion batteries and the No.2 producer and exporter of Li-ion batteries, accounting for 40% of the global Li-ion battery market. China’s domestic demand for Li-ion batteries will keep on increasing with the fast growth of a wide range of downstream industries such as mobile phone, laptop, digital camera, EVs, electric power tools, and new energy vehicles. Technical upgrading will also encourage the market demand for Li-ion batteries. The output value of China’s Li-ion battery industry is expected to reach CNY353 billion by 2015.
Apart from separator, what innovative solutions do we have for other key materials and components of Li-ion battery such as cathode/anode materials, organic electrolyte and battery case (aluminum plastic film)? What challenges will material suppliers meet in the future?
What about the future competition between super-capacitor technology and Li-ion battery technology in the field of new energy vehicle?
The 4th International Li-ion Battery Separator & Related Materials Technology Summit 2014 will be held in Shenzhen, China during 19-20 November. The conference will invite enterprises in the value chain of Li-ion battery materials and have them to make in-depth discussions on major issues in this industry such as the policy impact on Li-ion battery industry, market outlook, advanced manufacturing technology of separator and key materials, equipment and system solution, performance optimization and cost control, LiPo battery development trend and prospect for application in energy storage and power battery.
